Our approach

Motor and Control Diagnostics First

External venetians are more technical than indoor blinds. They have separate tilt and raise/lower functions — each with its own motor, drive, limit settings and control path. When one fails, the symptoms can look like the other.

We inspect the motor, receiver, wiring, limit settings, cords, ladder tape, brackets and slat condition before recommending anything. That approach means we fix the right thing and don't replace parts that don't need replacing.

Experienced across major systems including Somfy, Linak, Elero, CW Products, Alpha, Becker, Simu, Nice, JBA, Merlin and others.

Common faults

Common External Venetian Blind Problems We Fix

Send through a description and a photo and we'll help identify the fault before attending.

Blind won't tilt

Tilt motor fault, failed receiver, drive seizure or cord/ladder tape issue. Tilt and raise functions fail independently — we check both.

Blind won't raise or lower

Raise motor fault, limit issue, drive problem or power fault. We check the full raise system before recommending a motor replacement.

Motor not responding

Dead remote, lost pairing or faulty receiver. We test controls before assuming the motor has failed.

Slats misaligned or uneven

Cord or ladder tape faults, a loose slat or a drive issue. We diagnose the cause before adjusting or replacing slats.

Cord or ladder tape failure

Broken, frayed or tangled cords and ladder tape causing slats to hang unevenly or the blind to jam. Often repairable without replacing the full blind.

Remote or wall switch fault

Lost pairing, dead remote or faulty receiver. The receiver is a common failure point and often cheaper to address than replacing the motor.

Wind or weather damage

Bent slats, damaged brackets or cord failure after a storm. We assess what's repairable versus what needs replacement before quoting anything.

Limit setting issues

Blind overshooting, not fully closing or stopping short. Limits drift over time and after power interruptions. Often a quick fix with no parts.

Original installer no longer available

We repair external venetians installed by other companies, including older and imported systems where the supplier is no longer trading.

Slat Alignment, Cord and Ladder Tape Issues

Cords and ladder tape are consumable components in external venetian systems. They wear, stretch, tangle and eventually break — especially on systems that have been running for several years or that are exposed to strong sun.

When ladder tape breaks or cords lose tension, slats drop unevenly, the blind jams mid-travel or the tilt function stops working correctly. These faults often look like motor problems but aren't.

We inspect the cord and tape condition as part of every external venetian diagnosis. Where cord or tape replacement is the right fix, we carry common materials and can often complete the repair in one visit.

High-access & balcony work

High-Access and Balcony External Venetian Repairs

External venetian blinds on apartment balconies, high-rise residential buildings and commercial façades require careful access planning before any repair can start. We work on external venetian systems at height across Sydney.

If your blind is mounted in a location that requires equipment or careful access management, tell us when you enquire and we'll factor that into how we approach the job.

We work on systems installed by other companies, including older and imported systems where the original supplier is no longer available.

Residential & architectural systems

Residential and Architectural External Venetian Blind Repairs

External venetians on architectural and premium residential properties tend to be larger, heavier and more complex than standard systems. They often integrate with building automation, use European motor brands, and require proper diagnosis before any repair work can be quoted accurately.

We are experienced across Somfy, Linak, Elero and other motor and control systems commonly specified on architectural external venetian installations. We inspect the full system — motor, controls, cords, limits and bracket condition — before recommending anything.

If the original installer is no longer available or the system was imported, we can often still diagnose and repair — send through photos and details before booking.

It depends on the fault, the system, parts required and access. External venetians can be more involved than other blind types — particularly on high-access or architectural installations. Send us a description and photos and we'll give you a clear next step before booking.
