A Report Your Insurer Can Actually Use

Insurers, strata managers and builders don't act on a phone call — they act on documentation. We inspect the system and provide a written technician assessment: what we found, the condition of each component, the likely cause where it can reasonably be determined, and an itemised repair or replacement scope.

Reports are written factually, not persuasively. That's deliberate — a neutral, technically accurate assessment carries more weight with an assessor than an advocacy piece, and it protects you if the claim is scrutinised.

We report on systems we installed and systems installed by others — including systems whose original installer or manufacturer no longer trades.

Damage we assess and repair

Storm, Wind, Hail and Impact Damage We See After Sydney Weather

Across every system we service — roller shutters, shopfront security shutters, external venetian blinds, zip and outdoor blinds, folding arm awnings, louvre and operable roofs, and aluminium privacy louvres.

Hail-dented shutter curtains

Dented slats can jam the curtain in the guides or stop it rolling evenly. We assess whether individual slats can be replaced or the curtain is beyond repair.

Wind-damaged awnings and arms

Folding arm awnings caught extended in a gust bend arms, twist torsion bars and tear fabric. We document what failed and whether the frame is salvageable.

Blinds blown out of tracks

Zip blinds and external venetians torn from their guides by wind. Sometimes a re-feed and new components; sometimes structural damage to the tracks themselves.

Water-damaged motors and controls

Motors and receivers that failed after water ingress. We test the electrical side properly and state in the report whether water was the likely cause.

Impact and debris damage

Branches, furniture and airborne debris through slats, blades and fabric. We separate impact damage from wear so the claim reflects what actually happened.

Louvre roofs leaking after storms

Blades knocked out of alignment, damaged seals or gutter systems overwhelmed. We identify whether it's storm damage or a pre-existing condition — honestly.

Made Safe First — Repaired Once It's Approved

Insurance claims take time. Damaged systems don't wait — a half-torn awning keeps working itself loose, a shutter hanging out of its guides keeps swinging, and an exposed opening stays exposed.

We attend to make the system safe: securing or removing loose components, isolating damaged motors, and protecting the opening. Make-safe work is documented with photos so it supports the claim rather than complicating it.

Full repairs proceed once your insurer approves the scope — or earlier on your instruction if you'd rather not wait for the claim to resolve.

How it works

How an Insurance Repair Runs From Damage to Done

1

Inspect, make safe, document

We attend, make the system safe if it needs it, and inspect properly — photos, component condition, and what the damage pattern actually indicates. The inspection fee is confirmed before we attend.

2

You get the written report and scope

A technician assessment report with an itemised repair or replacement quote, written so your insurer, broker or strata manager can act on it. If an assessor has questions about our findings, we answer them.

3

Repair on approval

Once the scope is approved — by the insurer or by you — we carry out the repair. If the system is beyond economical repair, the report says so and includes a like-for-like replacement option.

The claim remains yours throughout — we provide the technical documentation and the repair, not claims advice. Commercial and strata clients are invoiced on 14-day EFT terms; the inspection report fee and repair costs are itemised separately so they map cleanly onto the claim.

Why it holds up

Assessments Backed by Manufacturing Knowledge

Telling storm damage apart from wear, a failed component from a neglected one, and repairable from written-off takes more than a glance — it takes knowing how these systems are built.

Bill, who carries out the inspections, has over a decade in the industry including manufacturing and project management at a leading Sydney louvre manufacturer. That background matters in an assessment: we know what these systems look like when they fail from weather versus when they fail from age, and the report reflects that distinction honestly — whichever way it points.

Experienced across major systems including Somfy, Linak, Elero, CW Products, Alpha, Becker, Simu, Nice, JBA, Merlin and others — on shutters, external venetians, zip blinds, awnings, louvre roofs and aluminium privacy louvres.

Common questions

FAQ

A documented technician assessment of the system: what we found on inspection, the condition of each component, the likely cause of the damage where it can be reasonably determined, whether the system is repairable or beyond economical repair, and an itemised repair or replacement scope. Reports are written factually so they can be relied on by owners, strata managers and insurers.
The claim stays yours — we provide the documentation that supports it. That means a written assessment report, photos, and an itemised repair quote you can submit to your insurer, broker or strata manager. Where an insurer or builder requests clarification on our report, we respond to that directly.
We can make the system safe immediately — securing loose components, isolating damaged motors, and protecting the opening — without prejudicing the claim. Full repairs proceed once the claim is approved, or earlier on the owner's instruction if you'd rather not wait.
Yes. Most of the storm damage we assess is on systems we didn't install, including systems whose original installer or manufacturer no longer trades. We assess the system as we find it.
All the systems we service: roller shutters and shopfront security shutters, motorised external venetian blinds, zip and outdoor blinds, folding arm awnings, louvre and operable roofs, and aluminium privacy louvres.
We say so in the report, explain why, and provide a like-for-like replacement quote you can put to your insurer. We don't recommend replacement where a repair is viable — the assessment states what we actually found.
Yes. We inspect and report on common-property and lot-owner systems for strata schemes, facilities managers and property managers, including multi-unit inspections in a single visit with per-unit findings.
