Our approach

We Repair the Fault Before Replacing Parts

Not every roller shutter needs a new motor. Faults come from many places — straps, winder boxes, guides, slats catching, end bearings, security springs, receivers, remotes, limit settings, power supply or wiring issues.

We open the pelmet, check what's actually happening, and diagnose the real cause before quoting anything. That approach saves you money and means the fix holds.

Experienced across major systems including Somfy, Linak, Elero, CW Products, Alpha, Becker, Simu, Nice, JBA, Merlin and others.

Common faults

Common Roller Shutter Problems We Fix

Whether the shutter is stuck completely or just playing up, send us a description and a photo and we'll help narrow it down before we attend.

Shutter stuck or jammed

Won't go up, won't go down, or stops halfway. Could be a jammed curtain, guide fault, end cap, slat damage or limit issue.

Motor humming, not moving

Often a failed motor, seized drive, capacitor fault or mechanical resistance. We check the full system before recommending a motor replacement.

Remote or wall switch not working

Dead remotes, lost pairing, faulty receiver or switch fault. Often the receiver is the problem, not the motor.

Noisy operation

Grinding, scraping, squealing or clunking during travel. Usually a guide issue, slat damage or worn bearings. Caught early, cheaper to fix.

Limit setting issues

Shutter overshooting, not closing fully or stopping short. Limits drift over time and after power outages. A quick adjustment — no parts needed.

Slats damaged or off-track

Bent, dented or slats coming out of the guides. Can cause jamming or uneven travel. Often repairable without replacing the full curtain.

No power to motor

Electrical supply fault, tripped circuit or failed control board. We check power before assuming the motor has failed.

Manual override not working

Crank handle or manual release not engaging on motorised units. Common after motor failure or after power outages.

Security spring or lock fault

Broken security springs, jammed lock bars or handle failures on commercial and shopfront shutters. We carry common parts on the van.

Manual shutter repairs

Strap, Winder and Manual Shutter Repairs

Broken strap, frayed webbing, stiff winder or the strap pulling away from the barrel — manual roller shutters have their own set of faults that don't involve motors at all.

We repair and replace straps, winder cassettes, pulleys, tape guides and related manual-control components. On older shutters where parts are harder to source, we'll tell you what's available before you commit to anything.

If you've got a manual shutter you'd like to convert to motorised, we can assess whether that's practical for your shutter's age, size and power access.

Commercial shopfront roller shutter repair — Shutters of Sydney
Commercial & shopfront

Commercial and Shopfront Roller Shutter Repairs

Shopfront shutters take more cycles, carry more weight and fail differently to residential shutters. High-cycle motors, security springs, lock bars, guide rails and heavy-duty curtains all need a different approach.

We repair commercial and shopfront roller shutters across Sydney. If your shutter is keeping a business locked out or left exposed, call us directly on 0477 059 687.

We work on shutters installed by other companies — including older systems where the original installer is no longer available.

How it works

How We Handle a Roller Shutter Repair

1

Send details or photos

Call or request a callback. Tell us what the shutter is doing, your suburb and the brand if you know it. A photo of the shutter or motor head helps us narrow down the likely fault before attending.

2

We diagnose on site

We open the pelmet, check the motor, controls, curtain, guides and limit settings. Some faults are obvious. Others need a proper look before we can quote. We won't quote until we know what's wrong.

3

We fix it or tell you why not

If the repair makes sense, we carry it out. If the shutter is beyond economical repair, we'll explain why and what the options are — honestly, before you spend anything.

Experience

Roller Shutter Knowledge That Goes Deeper

We're not just a roller shutter company — we work across the broader outdoor shading category, which means our motor, control and diagnostic knowledge is sharper than a single-product operation.

Bill, who runs the work on the ground, has over a decade in the industry since 2013, with experience across blinds, security screens, awnings, roller shutters, manufacturing and project management at a leading Sydney louvre manufacturer. That manufacturing background is directly relevant — we understand how shutters are built, which makes us faster at working out why they've failed.

Experienced across major systems including Somfy, Linak, Elero, CW Products, Alpha, Becker, Simu, Nice, JBA, Merlin and others. We work on shutters we installed and shutters installed by other companies.

Common questions

FAQ

In many cases, yes. A stuck roller shutter can be caused by a jammed curtain, failed motor, broken strap, damaged guide, limit issue or obstruction. We diagnose the cause first so you are not replacing parts unnecessarily.
A humming motor can point to a failed motor, seized drive, jammed curtain, obstruction, capacitor issue or mechanical resistance in the shutter. The important part is checking the shutter properly before assuming the motor is the only problem.
Yes. We repair roller shutters installed by other companies, including older systems and shutters where the original installer is no longer available.
Yes, where the shutter curtain, guides and general structure are still serviceable. If the motor has failed but the shutter itself is in reasonable condition, motor replacement can often be the right option.
Yes. We repair manual roller shutters, including broken straps, worn winders, tape guide issues, pulleys, bearings and related manual-control faults.
Yes. We repair commercial and shopfront roller shutters across Sydney, including high-cycle motors, security spring systems, guide repairs and lock bar faults. We work on both domestic and commercial systems.
It depends on the fault, access, parts required and whether the shutter is manual or motorised. Send through a short description and photos where possible, and we'll give you the clearest next step before booking the repair.
